After seeing lots of inspiration illustrations throughout the week, notably Rogie's work over at his Blog and other sources on Pinterest, Dribbble and Behance I decided it was time to get the sketchbook out and start drawing again.
It's been quite a while since I've picked up a pencil and paper so I had a go at a rather slimmer version of Mr Fredrickson from the Pixar film 'Up'.....(it was never my intention to make him slimmer, it just turned out that way...!).
Anyway, after not drawing for quite a while I'm happy I can still muster an image or two, hopefully I'll start to digitize some of my sketches into Illustrator in the future!
I have today signed up to Dribbble to gain even more inspiration for new work after really delving into Behance and Pinterest in the past week or so.
Browsing the great work that is posted on these sites has really opened my eyes to how much diversity there is in Design in general and has led me to be inspired to create some illustrations of my own.
I have always been a keen artist and used to doodle all the time and sketch all the time but it's something I have not done for some time.
Seeing the great work out there and specifically the work in which you can see the method of design makes me ask the question; why aren't you doing this?
Hopefully in the next few months I will start to create pieces and 'blog them up' for you to see and comment on.
Here I will be posting some inspirational work I have stumbled upon over the past few days/weeks and hope to keep this going as a weekly thing! Enjoy!

The Logo Company have created a great illustration of some of the big name brands to show how their logo has evolved since creation to the present day.
The illustration notes the time of inception to present day style which is great to see how the brand started to how they are presented today.
You can find the full illustration here including logos from Apple, Windows and BMW.
Another day, another tutorial!
This time it's another one from Chris Spooner's Blog over at Spoon Graphics. Chris decided to share with us his technique to create an event poster for his Stag Do.
As I am attending a friend of mine's stag do this year, Chef Daniel Catford, I decided I would follow Chris' great step by step tutorial.
The tutorial uses both Photoshop and Illustrator to create, I did veer slightly off tangent at times but managed to keep in line with what was needed for certain effects!
I'm a little disappointed that I didn't choose a slightly better image to clip for the Quad Biker as it has pixelated slightly but overall I'm happy with the outcome and as it's just for fun I won't get hung up on it too much.
Today I have followed a great tutorial from Chris Spooner over at Spoon Graphics on how to create this poster effect and personally I love the outcome and will try it out again on a number of different pictures I have in the future.
The process is very simple to follow and would be great for CD covers or posters alike. The photo itself I had to edit using some of the filters and actions spoken about in my last blog post.
You can find the tutorial post here at Chris' site, try it yourself!!
This Blog is edited by myself and often updated with resources and tutorials to help you the same way they will have helped me!
