Happy New Year! It's now 2016 and the start of another year, a big one for me as I am turning 30...ouch!
A lot has happened over the last 3 or 4 weeks since my last post, I made it to see the new Star Wars, The Force Awakens film. I thought it was generally really good however it seemed to copy the original film a little in terms of storyline which was a little disappointing.
We also saw Sisters and Daddy's Home which were both hilarious and definitely worth a watch!
We have a few new films lined up already for this year including The Revenant, with Leonardo Di Caprio and the wife's favourite Tom Hardy. We have Creed booked also which is a spin-off film from the Rocky series, I'm not sure how many more of these films they can realistically eek out of the franchise but we're giving it a watch none-the-less.
Other films I'd like to try and get to see are Joy and Room.
We had a fun Christmas with both sets of families, my wife got me a new lens for my DSLR which I have wanted for quite some time (probably straight after I got my camera!).
I got the Tokina 11-16mm DX II. The ultra wide angle on this will really help me with my architectural photography in the new year. I am already amazed by how much more I can get into a shot compared to my 18-55mm standard kit lens.
I was first turned onto this lens by reading the Disney Tourist Blog. The blog is written by Tom Bricker who I see as a top, top photographer, especially when it comes to Disney photography. I have followed his images on Flickr for quite some time now and am always amazed by his uploads.
The types of imagery he and Matthew Cooper, another photographer I follow, are images I aspire to create in the future. I am hoping with this new lens it will only help me on my journey to do so.
I recently had an inquiry from someone who wanted to use some of my own Disney photography to supplement their wedding album which I thought was incredibly flattering.
We have also just started doing, DDP Yoga. With everything we have been eating over the Christmas period it feels right to start the new year off doing some exercise and eating more healthy, it always seems to be the done thing in January! The Yoga has a schedule of 39 weeks so hopefully by the end of that time I'll be able to stand on one hand.......if only! And on that bombshell, I'll leave it here, thanks for reading!
